Naturskolan in Falun Municipality operates a small visitor farm at Dikarbacken with cows, sheep, goats, and pigs. We are currently in an intensive period with several pregnant animals. We are looking for a responsible person to help us care for the animals and handle related tasks on weekends during the spring, as well as periodically during the summer. Since the facility is well-visited, the role also includes greeting and assisting visitors.

Responsibilities

Duties include daily supervision, feeding, and watering, some maintenance of grounds and enclosures, as well as light construction and carpentry work. During the spring, additional supervision of pregnant animals and newborns may be required; this can include assistance with lambing, weighing newborns, supplementary feeding, etc.

As an animal caretaker, you will need to be independent in execution and decision-making, and contact with a veterinarian may occur. Almost all work is performed outdoors without running water and without machinery assistance.

Since the animals' needs dictate our conditions, the work requires a flexible approach where working hours and tasks may vary. However, the baseline is daytime work between 8 AM and 4 PM. Some evening shifts may occur during the lambing season.

Qualifications

Required for the role:

• Experience in animal care for one or more of the following animals; sheep, cow, goat, pig
• Driver's license

Personal attributes

We are looking for an engaged animal caretaker who works calmly and methodically. We also place importance on good social skills, as the care takes place in a public setting where visitors are introduced to the various animal species. A good sense of order and good communication skills are essential.

Meritorious qualifications

• Education in animal care
• Experience working at a visitor facility
• Certified license for brush cutter and/or chainsaw

Employment terms

This recruitment is for an hourly position as needed, starting immediately. We have a need for weekend work during the spring and periodically during the summer.
